THE STUDIO
𖦹 Clay Dance Studio is a design-forward, 3D-printing ceramic studio based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. Founded and led by husband-and-wife duo Serge and Bek, we create one-of-a-kind vessels that bridge the realms of artistry, nature, and technology.
Each piece begins as a sketch, then is 3D-modelled before being printed with fine porcelain clay, hand-finished, glazed, and kiln-fired in our Melbourne studio.
Our journey began with a desire to design unique, sculptural vessels for event florists and stylists - pieces that are as functional as they are poetic. Bek, who also runs Tremella Botanicals, had spent years immersed in weddings and event floristry, often dreaming of a ceramics line that could meet the creative and technical needs of floral design. Serge, a self-taught digital designer with an engineering mind and a knack for code, began experimenting with modifying 3D plastic printers to work with clay. What started as a side project quickly evolved into a shared creative practice.
We’re inspired by the organic geometries of nature and the cinematic worlds of science fiction, drawing on both to create shapes that feel otherworldly, while remaining deeply grounded in natural forms. Clay 3D printing allows us to build precise, complex shapes that would be difficult - if not impossible - to achieve by hand, while still embracing the raw, organic behaviour of the clay itself.
We’re committed to ethical, sustainable, and low-waste production. Our vases are thoughtfully designed to support intuitive arranging while eliminating the need for floral foam - a toxic, microplastic-laden material still commonly used in floristry.
Clay Dance Studio is not just our practice, but our creative home and gathering place - a space for imagination, play, and the cultivation of community, where beautiful objects, flowers, and shared rituals unfold through workshops and events.
